Origin of Greek
church of st. Kozma and Damian comes from 1708 – 1709. St. Kozma
and Damian were brothers and doctors. They were living near the Rome in
second half of the 3th century. This church is built in the village
called Venecia. This village is also known like center of glasswork.
The first written mention of this village comes from 1410. From the
point of view of building is this church wooden log building. Building
has got three parts, three towers and three crosses. It is the only
basement sacral building from the all of these churches of eastern
Slovakia. Interior decoration is mostly baroque. Iconostasis has got
four stages architecture on five decks. It isn’t single. Origin
of lower part of church comes from 1736 and it was made in atelier of
Andrej Gajecky. Upper part of church comes from 18th century. Fourth
stage of prophets is on two decks. It is evidently that third main icon
“Christ teacher” comes from another iconostasis. There is a
cross with a bust of Mother of God and st. John Evangelist on the top
of iconostasis. Iconostasis is mostly blue.
